Getting Started
Adding Guardexa to your server
To add Guardexa to your Discord server, start by visiting our homepage and clicking the 'Add to Discord' button. You will be redirected to Discord's authorization page where you can select the server you want to add the bot to.
Before proceeding, ensure you have the 'Manage Server' permission in the target server — this is a Discord requirement for adding any bot. If you don't see your server listed, make sure you are logged into the correct Discord account and that you have the necessary permissions.
Once you select your server and click 'Authorize', Guardexa will join with its default configuration. The bot will immediately be operational, but we recommend running through the setup wizard to tailor it to your server's needs. You can always change settings later from the dashboard.
Quick start guide
After adding Guardexa to your server, the fastest way to get everything running is to use the /setup command in any text channel. This interactive wizard guides you through the essential configuration steps and takes roughly five minutes to complete.
The wizard will ask you to: (1) select a welcome channel where join and leave messages will be posted, (2) choose a moderation logging channel where all moderation actions are recorded, (3) configure the ticket system category where support tickets will be created, and (4) set up basic leveling rewards to engage your community.
You can skip any step during the wizard and configure it later from the dashboard. The bot will confirm each setting before moving to the next step. If you make a mistake, simply run /setup again to restart the process — your previous settings are preserved until you change them.
For servers that already have an existing moderation or ticket system, Guardexa's /setup wizard can detect common configurations and offer to import them, making migration seamless.
Dashboard overview
The Guardexa dashboard is your central hub for managing all aspects of the bot. To access it, click 'Dashboard' on our website and sign in with your Discord account. You will see a list of all servers where you have administrative permissions.
Selecting a server takes you to its management page. The sidebar on the left provides access to every module: Overview (server statistics and recent activity), Moderation (case logs, auto-moderation rules, and warning settings), Tickets (ticket panels, transcripts, and staff configurations), Leveling (XP rates, level rewards, and the shop), Staff (duty tracking, applications, and performance metrics), and Settings (welcome messages, verification, logging, and auto-roles).
Each page presents your data in a clean, organized layout. Most configuration pages use toggle switches, dropdown menus, and color pickers instead of raw text commands, making server management accessible even if you are not familiar with Discord bot commands. Changes made in the dashboard are saved instantly and synced to your server in real time.
Permission setup
Guardexa requires specific permissions to function properly. When you authorize the bot, ensure the following permissions are granted: Read Messages and Send Messages for basic communication, Manage Messages to purge or delete rule-breaking content, Kick Members and Ban Members for moderation actions, and Moderate Members for timeout and warning functionality.
The bot also needs Manage Roles to assign level rewards and staff roles, and Manage Channels to create ticket channels and lock down channels during moderation. Without these permissions, certain features will be unavailable or may behave unexpectedly.
Discord allows you to fine-tune permissions on a per-channel basis after the bot is added. For example, you might restrict the bot's message-reading capabilities in private staff channels, or limit its channel creation abilities to a specific category. We recommend granting all requested permissions initially and then narrowing them based on your server's specific needs.
